Diet changes

After reading and researching, I am rethinking my “vegan” way of eating. Doing the baby steps of change. So far I have seen some promising results. Baby steps though, baby steps.

I’d be curious as to what specific changes you’ve made and the effects you’ve noticed. Former vegetarian here. Always interested in hearing stories from others on these types of issues.

Vegetables are still a big part of my diet. I basically have gotten rid of the soy products and added animal protein. The soy meat didn’t seem to hold me very long and the animal protein does better. I have also lowered my carb intake from 45 carbs to 30 a meal. I am reading Dr. B’s book now and find it very helpful. Like I said, baby steps. I am not sure about following it completely as beans and fruit are favorites. I will be experimenting to see what works for me.

I really overdid it with soy back in my years as a vegetarian, which was before my T1 diagnosis, so I hear you there. My body was very happy to be getting meat protein again. I read Dr. B’s book when I was first diagnosed, but decided it was too extreme for me. I recovered from an eating disorder many years ago and I know I would have a very difficult time placing his strict rules on myself. However, it seems many many people find success with his program. Good luck!

Thank you!
