I’ve had both injections. Avastin didn’t seem to work for me so my Dr switched to Eyelea which resolved the leakage after several monthly injections. My Dr never suggested laser surgery for me.

Exactly the explanation I got from my ophthalmologist 20 years ago when I was regularly getting laser treatments. It was a long-term affect of diabetes on the tiny blood vessels and new growth, not short-term as in recent control. It certainly made me double- and triple- down on good lifestyle habits and I’ve been free of eye issues since then.
