I was diagnosed with Type 1 during my pregnancy and I havr been stucked with it now for 5 years. I am only 36 and I still can not cope or understand this very chronic illness. I was in the hospital with ketoadacidosis and it has take a very serious affect on my life along with all the stress from work. I féel as though I’m not myself 100%. I have pains in my legs, feet and hands but, very afraid of letting my doctor know. I feel like I’m out to have a nervous break down due to the stress at work and returning so soon from being in ICU. MENTALLY THE STRESS HAS REALLY GOTTEN TO ME AND IM NIT SURE IF I CAN DEAL WITH IT. DON’T WANT TO END UP BACK IN THE HOSPITAL DUE THE REASONS… FEELING REALLY SCARED JUST WOULD LIKE TO GO BACK TO BEING ME. WITHOUT THE PAIN AND BLURRED VISION… CAN ANYONE ASSIST ME THIS

Very sorry to hear that you’re struggling; it is perfectly normal to do so (I struggle with accepting this disease as well). Please talk with your doctors honestly about your symptoms, they are the only ones that can really help with treatment. And please consider seeing a counselor! The mental stress of dealing with diabetes can be very difficult, and many of us need help!

Please continue to let us know how you are doing, and if you have specific questions, please start a new thread to ask questions and to ask for support. I’m worried that your comment is buried in an old thread here, and it will get more exposure (and responses) if you post to the Type 1 and LADA section.

Nothing good will come of not telling your doctors about your symptoms. Not telling hamstrings physicians in their efforts to help you.

If you want to get worse, then don’t tell your doctors how you’re feeling. The only way you can begin to feel better and get control of your life and your stress is to talk to your doctor so they can figure out what’s wrong. There are several of us on this site who have lived with disease for more than 50 years and we’re okay.

Being a diabetic now is so much easier than it was when I was diagnosed in 1965. So go see your doctor.

My mouth felt like a sandbox during and right after DKA.

Welcome to TUD, @Lady36! I see you’ve only posted this one message back on 2/7. Hopefully you’ve left notifications on because you sure sound desperately unhappy and there are a LOT of people here who have tons of knowledge, compassion, and experience helping other T1s through the kinds of turmoil you’re expressing. We’re all pulling for you and really hoping you’ll drop back in and let us know how you’re doing.
