The opinion I cherish, the passion is great, but if you read the article and pull a bullet to argue that someone is wrong, that crosses over to the rude side, particularly when the info in the other’s statement is their opinion and is a quote from the article about the original point, the definition of “tight control” to which the bullet had no relevance.
I was only speaking to the definition, not the opinion Dave. Keep the comments coming to all, that is what tudiabetes is about. And, try a little humility and respect for all. Only my opinion, which may be skewed a bit at this time.
This kind of thing always reminds me that you can prove ANYTHING with statistics. It may have different results if a different group was studied at a different time, but THEN it wouldn’t show up in headlines, would it?
It’s true that those running tighter control could be more likely to have hypos, but that doesn’t always lead to loss of function or thinking power in every situation. Those with Hypoglycemia Unawareness, a frequently ignored situation, may well cause some accidents, but any diabetic with that problem needs to aim to run somewhat higher bg levels for the safety of all.
That of course requires that they KNEW such things happen, which also needs to have their doctors understand it, which is a whole different layer of problem.
