Does anyone have a diabetic Endo?

I was presenting at a conference a few weeks after my son was born and was wearing a loose maternity-type dress as I had not lost the weight yet. Someone came up and asked me when my baby was due. I replied, “last month”, and she was embarassed. I agree that it is a “no, no” to ask that question unless you have been imformed personally of the pregnancy.

My first endo had Type 1 and so did his son. and currently my CDE has Type 1 but that is all I know of

I tried to see a Type 1 endo in Tucson, mainly because I needed a new one and he was giving a talk on new treatments, which I thought sounded encouraging. I called to try to get an appointment, and the woman on the phone said, “He’s not taking any more patients with sugar.” I think I was speechless for about five minutes after that. Luckily I was able to find an excellent endo, even if he wasn’t diabetic.

My endo is a type 1, has been for over 30 years. She is great, but then again, so are all the docs at that clinic.(so I’ve heard/observed) I regard her with awe (someone who went through 2 pregnancies without a pump, something I’m certain I could never do) but sometimes I think with a D endo, you don’t get away with everything…(they’ve got personal insights that non D endo’s do not!)

Since when did you start using the word “WOOT”? That seems so odd and I really don’t like it! Do you remember Doctor Duck? Man he was an “interesting” doc! ha ha! I miss Doc Sonnenberg so much-I wonder what she’s up to, she truly was the best endo I’ve ever had and I’d drive to Jersey just to see her!

That is awesome Jill!! I have always wanted to go back to be an endo. ( : But ended up having a family first and I just don’t have a hubby that would be able to take over while I was in school ): He is a busy dairy farmer.
Anyway, Good for you- we definitely need more docs who are empathetic-

I am going to a Endo her name is Dr Priestman in New westminster bc canada

I DO I DO! I was a church on Sunday when my pump battery thought It needed to be changed. Well the one I carry with me decided not to work. So I had to go find the Healthcare team my church has and get a battery or some insulin atleast and the dr was a Diabetic and a Endo! What do you know. He was very excited to have something to do!
