Ok, cash price update for anyone who is interested:
My pharmacy is Jewel-Osco. Cash price for a box of 90 4-unit cartridges is $250.69. The Afrezza Savings Card took it down to $105.08. Another coupon I found online here was applied in conjunction, resulting in a final out-of-pocket cost of $100.69. This is with no insurance coverage.
I also called our local Costco and Walgreens. Cash price for 90 4-unit cartridges were $336.00 and $296.99, respectively. I assume the discounts could be applied at these pharmacies also, although I did not find out because I didn’t have open prescriptions there.
This is in the Chicago suburbs.
Currently, it seems the Afrezza Savings Card can only be obtained over the phone, by calling 1-866-991-2840 - not online. That took about 10 minutes.
Can you pm me a photo of your afrezza savings card? You can black out any personal info? I just want to see if it’s the same card I have or if the discount card has changed with all the corporate changes…
Sam, they said they were not currently mailing out physical cards, OR e-mailing digital ones. The person I talked to read me off the BIN #, Group #, PCN, and Card ID#. I read that all off to the pharmacist on the phone and that seemed to be sufficient. I wonder why they are not doing actual cards anymore. Maybe because of the changes that are going on. Honestly I’m not even sure if I spoke to someone at Sanofi or Mannkind. He didn’t seem very familiar with Afrezza, and asked what medication I was calling about, so I’m guessing not Mannkind (that’s their only product, right?)
I just called too and they read me off all my info that they already had in their system. I think it’s just s third party agency that manages discount cards probably for dozens of different companies as near as I can tell…
When I get home I’ll be able to see if all that info they just gave me matches the physical card I already have…
The previous card actually said sanofi all over it and had their trademarks etc on it…
Will be interesting to see if the numbers they just gave me matches the numbers on the card or not
The numbers they gave me over the phone are exactly the same that are on my previous discount card which says sanofi on it— so I think the evidence is that the dame discount is still being offered with or without sanofis evolvement
by reading the fine print on the card it appears that the discount program is run by not either sanofi or mannkind but instead McKesson, a third party.
And the best news I’ve had all day… I just stopped by the pharmacy (they us actually called and said my order was in but apparently it was a mistake and it won’t be here until Monday)
Anyway they entered my data from the card and my $168 copay after my primary insurance went to zero— for a three month supply! Which is even more beneficial than I thought the discount card was going to be-- I thought there was a max benefit less than that!
Hmm, troubles, now Safeway tells me they’re not going to be able to fill it because their supplier can’t get it. This is a problem… Where did you get it, AR?
Both local pharmacies where I live use the same supplier who tells them they can’t provide it at this time. I submitted a request for a new prescription through cvs Caremark mail order and am waiting on that… They can take a frustrating length of time… So I’ll see where that leads then go from there.
I’m still working on this. Still no luck with local pharmacies. After a whole lot of problems with my doctors office writing the script wrong, cvs Caremark finally accepted their script and are now trying to process it but their status says “checking inventory” and has said that for a couple days now-- I’ve never seen that status before
I emailed mannkind to ask how they can help-- as someone from mannkind had commented in this very thread and left an email address to contact . I just revisited this thread and find it odd that the persons post from mannkind who offered to help and gave the email address had been deleted??
Well, I hope you’re right, that would be easy to believe if it were just my local pharmacy-- but I’m also currently trying to get it through CVS Caremark which is one of the biggest pharmacies in the country-- and they’ve been “checking inventory to ensure the prescription can be filled” since Monday…
The lack of ability to get anything at CVS is hardly a mark of, well… anything.
I had them unable to order freaking Accu-Chek strips for a couple of weeks at one point. ACCU-CHECK STRIPS! What the actual heck? I had to call Accu-Chek to get them sorted out.
I also had problems with them getting my Apidra last year (other pharmacies in town had it, just not them!) and ended up switching to Novolog that they didn’t have to special order.
I finally decided that the real problem was CVS, and switched pharmacies.
Yes I believe the last post was deleted and wanted to repost for others. Sorry that is a typo! Try freedom@mannkindcorp.com for future issues. Will make sure someone responds!
Thanks. I’m going to give Caremark a few more days to get their act together and then I’ll email my local pharmacy info to that address (again) if Caremark continues to fail.
Appreciate the work you’re doing.
Edit to add— I just emailed that address to explain the history of my rx troubles. Currently there is a pending rx at cvs Caremark but they’ve been “Checking quantity” for a week.
