Glicazide+metformin caused weight gain?

Hello everyone!!

I was diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago. I was on Metformin (2000mg) most of the time. But recently (Oct.2013) I was put on Glicazide (80mg)+ Metformin (1000mg).

I noticed that I have suddenly put on about 3 kgs in the last 3 months (Diet not changed very much). I thought it was winter fat, but when I measured myself today, there was not much of a difference in my waist line (0.5 inches more). But my face definitely looks chubbier!!!

Does Glicazide or a combination of the drugs cause water retention or weight gain?

Would love to hear all of your input!

Anything that increases your available supply of insulin will cause more of your intake of carbs to be stored as fat. That is, assuming you are taking in more carbs than you are burning. So as stated above, the solution is to eat less or become more active. "Eat to your drug" is a good way to express it.
