Help reading lab results

I am new to this forum and have type 2 diabetes. I just received my lab results and my Microalbumin came back high. The reference range is 0.00-1.90 (mg/dL) and mine is 3.0. Does this mean my kidneys are failing? I go to the doctor tomorrow.

The microalbumin test is very sensitive. There are a variety or reasons for an elevated result. I found my result was as high as 30 mg/dl if I exercised in the previous day or two. Your kidneys are not considered failing until your eGFR result starts to fall below 60 mg/dl. You often don’t even get referred for further testing unless you have more than one elevated microalbumin result. See what your doctor says, I bet he says “probably not a kidney problem,” and that you should “wait and see.”
