My ratios seem to change with the seasons. I tend to use less insulin when it is warm outside and more in the winter. I haven’t been at this but a couple of years. You might want to subtract say 20% of your carbs before bolusing if you are going to exercise. I have ratios ranging from 1:16 to 1:25 depending on the time of day. It is all an experiment, but a worthy one to pay attention to. You can do this. Look at how well you have done thus far without the knowledge of different carb ratios. Good for you.
Terry, i am T1 and don’t produce ANY of my own insulin. but, i don’t eat many carbs per day, so my insulin usage is very low, I think. (20 units total per day)
I’m in the process of checking my evening I/c now. I am working with endo and de, as my evening bs are cosistly high. I start with meal around 5 if my bs is within 80-200, take known carb–frozen dinnr so no guesses–then test once every hour for 4 hrs if within range. Need 3 valid tests. My I/c ratios change quite a bit: 10/1 in the am when or hormones are rampant to 16/1 in pm. I have to forgo the pm walk with my dogs while testing, as walking after a meal gives me a bs under 115 2 hhrs after eating and low after 4 hrs, even if I have slow carbs
This is all very valuable information. Thank you for the replies!
