Unfortunately, things in Greece are so grim (almost black), that I only need to think about it and I get so frustrated! My Bg is through the roof again (no less than 250 mg/dl) all the time. I feel sad that no one in Greece ever thought about us! I am in search for a new endo (last one saw in me just a pocket full of money…sadly) and I don’t even know if I am gonna be able to get my medication on time (cause, our insurance isn’t guaranteed, money were stolen and spent away carelessly from health care officials). The whole country is in a very difficult economic situation. But what about people like me who need 4 shots of insulin daily? I hate them for being so unaware that they put our lives in danger.
Hi Lena, sorry to hear of your recent dramas There is no doubt that stress causes BG’s to fluctuate and if anything could cause stress, the situation you described fits the bill!! While we see some news reports of the situation in Greece, you do not hear of personal cases such as yours so the world remains in the dark. Unfort I am not in Greece so cannot offer any advise on what to do there. What I can say is keep you head up and remain positive - it will work out! Take some time out to relax and do what else you can to keep your D under control.
Thanks for the support.I really appreciate it.
I cannot begin to understand your difficulties about getting your medications since in the UK it is far easier and the longest I have had to wait is 5 days - and it is free here. That was because of supply problems since I am on pork insulin and the majority of diabetics in my town are on human insulin.
I cannot advise, but I wish you well and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
