Infusion Sets that refuse to be friendly

I am really thin and the sure T’ are working great. The only time I can feel them is if I put it in them muscle. The short length gives me more options in places I could never use before giving my battled stomach a break. The only plastic ones I use are sills/comforts on my upper thigh but very shallow. I use those within my rotation. Worst that happens you try them and hate them but I see pretty good results with the sure T’s on thin people.

Be loved

Sure-Ts are far and away my favorite infusion sets. I have tried quick set, sillouette, and then recently sofset, and for me sure-t blows them away. They are so easy to put in, and are much less prone to invisible problems (like bent ends). I also love the second adhesive pad on the disconnect, it keeps me from feeling yanks on the tubing. They are so flat and easy to put iv-3000 on so that they can’t be snagged by something rubbing across it.
They are irritating and poke in a nasty way if they start to come out on their own, but I’d rather get poked than not realize that my infusion set pulled out. Your are also supposed to change them more often that plastic ones, every two days rather than every three days, though I will get an infection faster from plastic than from metal.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information! I have requested a sample and I hope to be able to try them out soon!

Hi Kelly, I can only empathize and sympathize with your problem. I have recently started the pump and found constant problems with bent canulas. I waas putting it down to my inexperience but appears like a common problem on here. I too have temporarily returned to Lantus until checking out alternate sets. Yesterday sugars went crazy with a bent canula being likely prob. I cant offer any advice but my thoughts are with you. Chris

I use the Silhoutte. It looked a little scary at first, but once it is in, I cannot tell at all what angle it is at. It is a little more involved when inserting it though, but no big deal.

I have a really bad latex allergy - with my allergy my insurance pays for Tegaderm HP to place under the infusion set. I insert the infusion set OVER the tegaderm. In addition, I cover my infusion set with Tegaderm again so I don’t rip it out. I cut a hole so I can disconnect as needed. I am on MDI until my new pump comes in but this has worked for me for years.

I am using Quickset alternated with the Silhouette’s depending on my amount of activity.
Perhaps you may want to try this out.
