For someone like me who is fairly new to all this but has read a lot about diabetes, it can be hard to know what yardstick to apply to my own situation. Thank you for your clarity! And can I ask one more question? When you say "keep your blood sugars normalized," I'm guessing that you are using the term in the "under 140" sense, rather than in the Dr. Bernstein "very tight control" sense?
Hey @marty1492 has been a while you posted it… how are you doing? I was just diagnosed DM type I on the honey moon stage, but with diet and exercise I am being able to keep bg low, the highest it’s beeing going is 135 sometimes late in the day. So my doctor told me I could wait my bg go higher to start insulin, or I would get lows… My fastening glucose has been between 70-125 depending in what I eat, those last days I’ve been keeping it 70-90 consistently. Did you have to start insulin?
And what would be the minimal dose for starting insulin?
