Insulin Pump AND Fiasp by Syringe

I am at 50-65 u/day using Humalog. I have had T1 a long time, gained weight, etc. so think I am a little insulin resistant although, per adjusted body weight, still at about .6/kg.

You could always do the Fiasp in the pump and use Afrezza.
I think the Basal-IQ works even better with Fiasp.

We have not tried Afrezza but for bolus, it sounds much faster than Fiasp.

The speed of Fiasp does not seem to be consistent for all people. So potentially, your Doc worked with some people for whom Fiasp really had no speed advantage. Seems like some people it does and some people it does not.

Sounds like we have the same doctor @Patricia5 :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:. I’m not sure that taking diabetes advice from a doctor is any different than taking advice on cars from someone who doesn’t even drive.

I’ve been on Humalog since '96 and was told FiASP “wasn’t much different” and had a very similar onset and duration profile (as Humalog). For me, nothing could be further from the truth.

I can’t be certain, but it seems over the years my body developed a resistance to Humalog much the same as most of us did with Beef/Pork insulins of the past. I was needing to pre-bolus 90-120 minutes pre-meals with Humalog.

With FiASP, I can see a measurable change on my CGM 15 minutes post-injection. Which means its onset is nearly immediate. Unless I bolus more than 5 units at a time, FiASP duration is predictable 3 hours for me (I use more FiASP than Humalog in a day simply because it doesn’t have the duration).

My total daily BASAL is around 12 Units and depending on diet, total daily BOLUS is another 10-12 Units.

As I said on another post, I’d sure love to get my hands on some Afrezza, but Health Canada has been slow with MannKind’s application / approval :rage:
