Hi, My name is Antoinette, and I have been a T1D for 35 years. I have tried everything to lower my blood glucose and keep it at a flatline level. I have tried reducing my blood sugars through juice fasts, etc. It worked okay, but you can’t do that forever. Well, I am on a ketogenic woe at the moment (under 20 carbs a day) and I am finding that it works for me. I am also on Tresiba, which is fantastic, and I was taking Aprida. I have been having lows constantly, so the doctor put me on Jardiance. My question is, how do you find it working for you? I generally try to keep my blood sugars in the low 80’s now and even on the Jardiance I am having some lows. I have researched Jardiance and it has positive and negative effects. I am just starting this drug does anyone have any insight? Thanks for your help. BTW, Ronjaws you said you are on Fitbit, but I cannot find you…
My doctor has asked me to consider switching to Jardiance, but I haven’t started the samples yet. I have taken Invokana a number of years, it is an SGLT2 drug just like Jardiance. My experience with Invokana is that it dropped my TDD by perhaps 20% affecting both my basal and bolus dosing. Invokana also helped me more consistently get my fastings into the 80-100 mg/dl range. You can search and read my previous postings on Invokana here.
Invokana, Jardiance and the other SGLT2 drugs have some negative effects including making you urinate more frequently and you have a greater chance of UTIs and yeast infections.
