I’m a type 1 and my Lantus, when it’s a new vial and has been kept refridgerated, lasts until about 40 hours after I inject it. I know because I’ve occasionally not taken the shot. The doses I take of Lantus vary from 8 units to 30 units, averaging about 18.
I’ve tried splitting my dose and the results haven’t been very good. I think different people- and parts of their bodies- absorb insulin differently. I do occasionally take an extra dose of Lantus when I’ve been running high with many corrections all day, and that usually does help.
