Ijust completed a trial diabetes program using Lixisenatide and lantus in one solostar pen. Lixisenatide is approved in New Zealand and Europe .
At the conclusion my HA1C was 5.1.
To me the combination of a Glp 1 like lixisenatide or victoza or Byeta combined with long acting insulin is an effective treatment plan.
Personally i prefer Levemir over lantus and i am happy to take it twice a day as studies show it does not last as long.
I am now taking levemir in a vial 30units twice a day until my medicare kicks in February 1, 2015.At that point i will likely take Victoza a nd levemir and reduce levemir to 20 units twice a day.
