So I went for a 6 mile run yesterday and towards the last half mile I started to get a terrible cramp in my left calf muscle!!! I had to stop and walk the last quarter mile!!! Whne I got home by damn glucose was 34!!! I hate this disease sometimes!! It always seems to interfere when I am doing something that takes endurance…I just want to be normal for 24 hrs!!! Ughhh@@
hey Ryan - sorry to hear about your cramp and hypo. IMO, screw the leg cramp, you coulda been out cold at the road with a low bs. how come you didn’t feel low until you got home?
I’ve been a lazy bum since it got cold, but the things that work for me: never do strenuous/endurance with insulin on board. If you had a pump - you could lower your basal rate 45 minutes before a workout. Do you ever change your long acting shot when you know you are working out? The other way is a Cliff bar or one of those power bars the bicyclers use. Great for sustained sugar absorption, bad for calories.
since you seem really active I bet you just had a potassium (salt) prob. Causes cramps that can ruin you, happens to us T1’s esp if we have highs and spill sugar (your kidneys are also passing water and critical salts too) eat a banana for potassium. cheers
