I've been using my new wine cooler for a little over a week. It's keeping at 40 degrees nicely, but won't go lower than that. I did have to figure out how to actually put the insulin vials on the shelves since they have wide spacing between bars. I just lay pint glasses sideways, then put the box of insulin in those. It's deeper than I wanted but it's still fairly short. This model doesn't use a compressor so you have to keep items off the bottom since its a cooling plate(at least I think it is). Its much quieter than a standard fridge but you can still hear the fan when its on.
The bonus is I had room for 4 bottles of wine in it also!
Sounds good Kevin,
Did you use a thermometer to test the temps? I think I'm going to get one too.
Yes I did, I have a basic non-digital fridge thermometer in it currently. It's holding steadily at ~40ish. It doesn't vary at all, that is what I was looking for. The temperature does rise pretty quick if the door is open for any length of time.
It's definitely what I was looking for, can't beat $80 compared to replacing a kitchen fridge. Plus it's from Home Depot so you could just return it to a store if you don't like it. It can only be purchased online, it's not available in their stores.
I'm going to get one and use it for emergencies like power failures because it will take less to power it.
