New a1c to diagnos diabetes

i am not sure forum to put this on so i will put it here

a friend was telling me abot new a1c guidelines for diabetes diagnosis
he said the new a1c guidelines of 5.5 and or fasting sugars of 100
i am not sure if this is true or not but was wondering if thare are aney
doctors or endos on here that can plase tell me what thare guidelines
are for diabetes s diagnosis i am asking for a friend who
dose not have a computer

I have not heard of this. Most everyone blindly follows the ADA Standards of Care which still has the threshold for pre-diabetes as fastings of between 100 and 125 mg/dl and A1c between 5.7 and 6.4%. Diabetes is fastings over 126 mg/dl and A1c > 6.5%. This remains unchanged this year (2017)
