Hi julie , just reading this now, but I have Medco and they have the old strips.
Are you maybe mixing up Freestyle and Freestyle Lite? Both those are now sold in the new style. The Freestyle ‘classic’ are only distributed to Mini Pharmacy and Liberty (as far as I know). The classic strips are plain rectangles, the newer styles have contours and little points for collecting blood.
If you’re getting the old strips from Medco, that’s really confusing!
I haven’t had any problems with the new strips either. After getting about 3 refills with the new strips, my pharmacy filled my last prescription with 2 boxes of the old style. My numbers have been basically the same.
I think where most of the confusion has come from, is that they now have “Free Style Lite” strips (that are designed to work with their new Free Style Lite meter), and these “Lite version” strips will definitely not work with the OmniPod PDM. They have the butterfly on them just like the new Free Style strips which I think helped add to the confusion when they were first introduced.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
KCO
My PDM has never given me any accuracy issues with the new strips. Try and see is all i can say.
No. I was told NOT to use the light ones only the ones with the butterfly or the 'old' ones in the white bottle but the pharmacy said they don't have those. They now only carry only butterfly reg and 'lites'. Using them in the PDM w/a one digit code increase shows 30 points diff BG from my Ultra mini One Touch. What to do?
