Ongoing Omnipod Problems

I had quite a few pod failures over the course of a few weeks/months. I’m suspicious I got a “bad” box of pods or two, because literally it was one right on top of another.

When I bolus a half unit when I put my pod on that assures usually a working pod. In this case that didn’t work. So I was a lot more careful, still am with placement in certain areas that seem to work better and I am also using a scar oil to cut down on possible scarring.

But one thing I always do when I have a pod failure is give a syringe shot to bring down my numbers so I am assured I am actually getting insulin. That turned out to be very important when the second one failed too.

Things are better now, although I am still being more careful about placement, I don’t know what was going on,whether it was me or the pods? Who knows? But at least it’s solved now. I must have called in about 6 pods (or more) over a few months time. So I am leaning towards it was a pod production issue.

Also if you are a type 1, you are better off knowing how to change your own dosing. For one, endos change and have different opinions. What if you don’t like the next one as much? What if something happens and he/she isn’t reachable? Since we have to live with this disease 24/7 it’s better if you know how to manage it yourself so you have the knowledge.
