Petition Medicare to cover CGM's!

bumping this back to the top

thanks sue!

bumping!

As a person who has closely watched his glucose levels for more than 50 years, I have had enough bad hypo. events to write a horror story. Since the beginning of my CGM 2.5 years ago I have not had even one event.
Personnally, I don't think there has been a better improvement to diabetes care since retail insulin.
Can't help but wonder though, if it were not for the mega-millions of dollars annaully spent for this care would there not be a cure by now?

You raise a very important question as well as demonstrate a valid point!

The ability to solve problems like diabetes truly relies on having sufficient rational test gear with 24/7 visibility on a complex chemical plant with multiple hormones(control and signals). I worked in advanced microprocessor electronics and the ability to develop, manage, debug and repair depended upon multi-channel high speed test equipemnt. Magic wands and experiece are no match for that.

Why , I do not know why this industry ( volatile adjectives deleted) has not progressed the necessary test equipemnt to better manage diabetes escapes me.

Even for cgms ( a great step forward) one needs prescription, only for Doctors and a massive russian steel hand controlling the price, access and use. Notwithstanding the rules are not for dosing use and only for watching trends. Massive beauocarcy stalling approvals and creativity on said gear is disgracefull. That just adds to the locked in massive treatment costs and withering hope to improve pratical treatments and contain costs and prevent bankrupting the medical plans and systems of our day!

The human body comes with no instrumentation, once you get some, your ability to manage better jumps dramatically as testified by Jim Devlin.

thanks to all signers, feel free to spread the word  very good points made by jim d & jim s. so glad you don’t have to live the horror stories any more jim d. jim s, volatile adjectives notwithstanding  the system is the system, greed is greed & we have to work within that. i really wish i knew how to get more signatures, i am personally impressed to have gotten over 200 signatures in that i am not a ‘people’ person, but, i obviously can’t approach medicare with that number. oh well, just take it a day at a time, lost friday but conscious today  thanks again everyone for the signatures & information shared.
