Hello! My insurance is requiring that I wear a CGM for 3 days pre-approval. I am wondering why they require this - is it to show that you have erratic blood sugars and actually get the lows you say you do? Or is it to make sure you really want it? Just curious if anyone has any insight. Thanks!
Not sure. I mean, a doc or endo could verify that for them a lot quicker than a 3 day trial. Maybe they want to see if you like that type before shelling out the dough for it…?
Just curious, what insurance do you have ? I would love to have a CGM even more than a pump
I have HAP thru GM and I just received a CGM. Dexcom took care of all the requirements but I had to answer few pages of questions showing my last 30 days of BS, my highs and lows, how many times I test etc. Every ins is different as well as each specific coverage. I didn’t have to pay a dime because our unbelievably high deductible has been met this year. Contact Dexcom and they can do a pre-approval for you and let you know exactly if, and what they’ll cover before you commit. Don’t know why you would need to wear one before but those reasons make sense. Good luck!
thanks I will check with Aetna
