Quadruple bypass at 47. Sharing my story to save lives

Habit plays a big role. I was on an insulin pump with no cgm, and when I started my cgm I thought I was in good control, 7% aid or so, and that was considered good back then.
After. Week I saw that my sugars skyrocketed and dropped all the time and my Time in range was less than 50%.
I was probably 15 years like that.
I made so many habits thinking I was on top of it, I had no complications, nd I felt pretty ok.
So when I saw I needed to change some things, it was very difficult.
I was very afraid to take enough insulin to bring me into range t night, so I was going to bed at 200.
With cgm, I was able to be a little more brave
My first cgm was a crazy big box that was duct taped to my body. And it would alarm. It had actual wires from the sensor to the control box.
I couldn’t see the results until the 10 days was over and my doctor gave me my first bad news about how bad my control was.
I got my first dexcom a few months later.
So silliness aside, habits are hard to break
