woke up 144, Getting ready for a Job Interview. Took a shower, bolused for my time not having my pump connected during the shower… Nervous, Check my blood sugar again 374!? “oh great”. Checked on 3 times on two different meters. Bolused from my pump checked 30 mins later…425! wohoo! (not) Pulled out a syringe, (havent used one in months) anyways im 138 now. Im exhausted and tired and got my interview reschedule for wensday but my question is…
How do you guys bounce back up from times like these?
Kenny- Wow, that is an amazing ramp up. Do you have bs issues when under stress? Watch your self Wednesday it may be the stress of the interview. Also did your site have issues? I have only had a problem a couple of time when it partially pulls out. If you are like me, you now feel like you ran a marathon. I have always had to carry on like nothing happened. Usually after I am back down it takes a few hours to feel “normal” again. Stress really sends me for a loop. I hope the rest of the day goes better.
Lots of nervous-type stress can totally f up my blood glucose levels. It makes my insulin about 90% less effective. Bouncing back is tough, no doubt…I assume you mean mentally and emotionally. It takes me a day or so of stable levels before I feel better.
Kenny, it is a bummer but I have found that no one really understands what its like, so I learned to hide it. Always felt sleepy and couldn’t be bothered, they called me lazy. Ah well ! I have noticed a good improvement in my mood with better control, but it used to be bad and just awful.
Sorry to hear that Kenny, I believe we all had a similar situations, for me I will change the site and then give my self a correction bolus and see if it went down after 30 mints, if not I will go exercise or have a walk, depend if I have free time
I never used a syringe to fix something, since I cann’t track how many units I have! Insulin on board!
Good luck and stay away from the nasty stuff (Pizza, Sweets…) on Tuesday
