Sensor angle Angle UPDATE :)

Hi Salty. With my sensor I do not tell my pump it is connected until 3 hours after I insert. That gets rid of many lost sensor errors for me. Also I can not use my back area at all I guess I fidget to much i bump it alot there. I get many errors there. You can try even lesser angels like me and see if that helps. Just make sure it is all the way in.
Be well lady  and be loved

Hi Laura,
I usually insert my sensor in the evening and don’t tell my pump until the next morning, so that shouldn’t be the problem. I can’t seem to get any flatter of an angle than 30, even at 30 degrees the thing only goes in about half way with the inserter and then I have to manually push it the rest of the way. It takes about all the courage in my heart to do that!
Hope you are doing well since I last heard from you!

Can you or have you tried a 20 degree? 30 only worked for me when I was about 5 pounds more then I am now thanks to the tummy flu. I have to adjust it based on weight. I will even go just under the skin which is a big no no but it works for me. Check out Abbott they have a 5mm sensor on a 10 hour warm up.

Doing better still hard but better what about you?

Seriously, when I insert a sensor, I feel like Jesus on the cross, getting lanced in the side by the Roman guard. There is no angle that can make that thick, large (calm down ladies) hollow needle feel anything short of blindingly painful.

Thanks to all that have responded to my question. It has given me some insite to how this may work for me. I am on my second sensor started today. The first lasted 7 days and I attribute the loss to my poor control during this period. The sensor did not end or die. It was giving poor readings and I had a tape sensitivity issue as well. The Polyskin that I was using created a bad rash at the edges of the tape. I am trying a different product today and I hope that it agrees with my skin better.

Oneless maybe everyone can send request to other sensor mfg to come out with an Abbott style sensor!
yay ! what do you think?

Oh boy I can not use polyskin without a awful rash. Can you try IV3000?
let me know and be loved

Maybe because I have been using needles for 48+ years the insertion is not a problem. I started with the stomach area but have moved to my lower rear hip under my pant line and I cannot feel it at all; only when my tape starts to pull. I use the purple Nexcare and it holds the sensor and transmitter down very well despite what comes with the sensor.
I don’t like the insertion thing but what are the true options. Been using the CGMS with the MM522 (but not as a pump) for over a year. Very few bleeding issues but it has happened. I try to insert an angle I am comfortable with and after the sensor gets “wet” turn the pump on. I usually do this at night so it has time to set. Other experienced people tell me the same thing. MM just came out with a new slightly smaller transmitter too that I was able to upgrade to because the original was out of warranty. Still very grateful for the CGMS. I feel lost not wearing it even for a few hours. Remember with this a calibration is the key to good readings.
