Sharps container

When you are flying,do you place your sharps container on your carry-on or in your luggage?

When I travel, I use an old test strip container. (decorated with blue tape so I don’t confuse it with real test strips) I keep everything in my carry-on. Most of the sharps containers I’ve seen are too big.

I’ve been here in FL for quite some time and am flying home tomorrow, however, my sharps container is one of the quart ones, that is almost full. Trying to figure out where to put it. No place here will take it as I’m not a patient here and am a patient in NC

The airports I’ve been in have a sharps box in the restroom.

Wow, I never even considered taking a sharps container with me while traveling, but I guess that’s the more responsible thing to do.

I always assumed the sharps in the airport bathrooms were for the frequent flyer junkies, athletes and rock stars, not persons with diabetes.

Hi Cynthia,

I put my sharps container in my checked baggage.

After all, if I loose it it not going to be critical, and it’s much easier at security checkpoints.

Cheers,

Henry.-

I just got home, I took it in my bookbag I used as a carry on
they only swabbed the pump, they didn’t seem to care my sharps were on me

I take a " clipper " along for my used needles, if I have to use them , while away from home . This gadget , which is years old and given to me by the company , a B-D product , has a sticker attached on the back " biohazard " . I put this with my medical supplies in my back pack ( carry -on ) . Other sharps from pump supplies go in same plastic bag .
I acquired a free " new clipper" from BAYER recently . Have done some plane travel recently , never a problem .

I put the caps back on and throw the needles in the trash. There is already too much to think about when traveling and how to dispose of needles is the last thing on my mind.

hey, when i travel i keep everything in my carry-on but my sharps box is to big to fit in that soo i get like a little mini one thats big enough to fit in my carry-on from the hospital. and then if any thing goes wrong i’ve alway’s got my mom there soo
