So Frustrated

I am just so fed up with following my doctors guidelines for exercising and failing!I need to lose weight..like it is affecting my mental health...so I dont want to have to eat extra to avoid hypos during exercise....My doctor told me to put on a temporary basal rate of -50% for 1 hour pre exercise....that didn't work and I tried this for 4 days..I went hypo every time and there was no bolus insulin on board as I don't eat carbs. So I decided I would do -50% temp basal for 2 hours pre exercise(My exercise is an hours walk)..I still went hypo unless I ate carbs and didnt bolus....so I decided to suspend my pump for 1 hour pre exercise and during exercise and I didnt go hypo during the walk but I did after...so I had to eat more carbs...I just feel so p****d off...I feel I will gain weight rather than lose it if I continue to exercise! What should I do??

I struggle with this too! It IS frustrating. I have to eat 45 grams (a cliff bar) to participate in bootcamp, or to go on a run. The only exercise I can do with a small snack is walking :0(

For exercising, I try to limit myself pretty much to lighter/ quick carbs, just to control bg, both before and after. I just look at BG. The only time I will make the effort to eat food is before a pretty long run.

Good job on working to exercise though! I was there in 2005ish, walking a mile or 3 around the neighborhood. I've kept at it and have made a lot of progress, even though I'm a bit sludgy these days! Keep it up!!

Relax. Be patient. These things take time. Sometimes these things come down to trial and error. Sounds like you're on the right track.

I disconnect about 15 minutes before exercise, and reconnect after. Usually works pretty well for me. Good luck.

I put 3 teaspoons of sugar in my drinking water and just sip it throughout my activity. Keeps they hypos away and i burn off the calories i injest so it all works out in the end. I tried eating before and after and it didnt seem to matter i would drop like a rock, this has been the only sloution so far that has worked for me. I suppose you could use the sport drinks etc but they have so much garbage in them i find that water and sugar is all that my body needs so thats all i give it.
