I just at these cookies. And i noticed on my CGM it causes my BG to drop. Has anyone experience the same? I did not take any rapid insulin.
I rarely eat cookies. Sugar free implies they use some artificial sweetener, but I would be more concerned about the flour and the type of fat they use in the mixture to worry about sugar. How long after eating the cookies did you test your blood sugar?
Not long maybe a few minutes dexcom started dropping.
You usually expect your bg to go back to your normal level about 2 hours after eating.
A couple of thoughts: maybe your BG was already dropping when you were eating the cookies and the carb boost from the cookies was delayed by the fat content? Did you verify the Dexcom result with a fingerstick? The Dex value will usually lag behind the BG value (going up or down).
No i didnt fingerstick. I should of, but i am coming to realize the Dexcom cgm is not always correct.
Unlike sodas and other drinks, the sweeteners used in cookies are different because they have to stand up to high heat during the baking process. “Sugar alcohols” are used, most commonly sorbitol. Trouble is, as you can see there is still quite a bit of carb that needs to be dosed for, although it might not absorb quite as quickly as normal sugar. But I don’t think your BG drop had anything to do with these, perhaps you were already dropping for another reason…had you bolused for an earlier meal within an hour or two?
