I can’t speak about the capabilities of the Ping remote, but in searching I see that there is some amount of work attempting to reverse-engineer the Ping radio communication at GitHub - mariusae/pingrf: RF stack for the Animas OneTouch Ping insulin pump
Similarly there is work on the Omnipod radio interface at GitHub - openaps/openomni: Documentation and library for decoding omnipod communications.

So perhaps one day those command links will be well enough understood that they can be incorporated in closed-loop software. At present, the Medtronic command interface is well understood, so it is the one kind of pump currently used.
