Time to improve Tandem

@spdif This is really good to hear!! I am committed now to trying the 780g, but like I said, I have 2 years to make the right decision for me before my warranty is up. – Even though I “technically” wasn’t asking for help, but rather chiming in on other posts, your response is exactly what this forum is about: sharing information. Thank you for taking the time.

When I was using my T2 I had connection issues that I don’t have in my mobi. But I attached one of those old fashioned mobile phone signal enhancers to it and it really was a game changer it looks like a scam but it works really well.

My tandem X2 complaints anre being unable to see the screen with polarized glasses, finicky buttons on the bottom screen and if you forget to Lock Screen get a missed bolus alarm.

Changing the usb b to usb c would be nice

Amen to that. Micro USB connectors are finicky things at the best of times but Tandem has succeeded in creating one of the hardest to insert I’ve ever experienced. Really fun it your low battery warning comes on at 3 am, inevitably, and you’re trying to get it hooked up without turning on a light. Or even in broad daylight with a magnifying lens. Maddening.

The mobi has corrected a lot of those issues. There is no charge port, you just place it on a wireless pad for 5-10 min every 4 days or so. And there is no screen, so hopefully you got a phone that works for you, and of course it’s bigger.
The cartridge change is so much easier and faster with less insulin waste.
I think the newest T2 will or does have wireless charging as well.
The only thing I had to send my pump back for was that charge port and I needed to do that twice. They give you one but I’ve charged my pump on hotel and car wireless chargers many times, so I don’t travel with a separate charger, I have a power bank for my phone that can charge it in a pinch tho.

Stuff to look forward to 3 years from now when Medicare lets me replace my current one. If there still is Medicare. :grimacing:

That’s an uncomfortable thought.

Do you use magnetized wireless chargers? It seems like a lot of wireless chargers (but not all) have magnets. Do you worry about that or find it doesn’t matter?

I’ve used magnetic chrgeers but there is almost no metal in the pump so it won’t stick to a magnet charger the way a phone will.
You need to place it just right on the pad to get it to work.
The charger in my car is great except it doesn’t sit in the right spot because it was designed for a phone so I put my wallet under it and it works nicely

I’ve another thing I want Tandem to add. I am having to use some heavy handed extended boluses while on Prednisone. If you stop insulin delivery to take a shower that does away with the extended bolus. Either continue the extended bolus upon resume or add a suspend insulin option that would do the same thing.

I didn’t stop insulin just now to shower. I just let the insulin drip on the counter top while I took a very fast shower.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong.

You can actually shower with your tslim on. I used to put it on one of the soap dishes and it’s resistant enough to still work through showers. I pretty much always shower with my mobi as it is waterproof. I’ve never swam with it but the documentation says you can. The newest T2 or maybe it’s the T3 also has wireless charging which will
Make it more water proof. There is no perfect solution. I actually miss the ability to cancel alarms on my device because I always have it with me. With mobi I sometimes have to find my phone first.

A question, do you use the short set where the Mobi is attached to the body, and can the magnetic charger be used while wearing it?

I saw that Tandem was working on a sled to hold a different wearable pump in development. Maybe that’s been used for Mobi.

Yes I use the short and the long versions. Easy for the 23 inch sets, for the short one, I can put the charger in my waistband against the pump. It charges fast, just 10 min. I also have a battery powered QI charger that I just lay against the pump while I’m wearing it. It requires a little better placement though.
It’s best to wear the mobi with the flat side out which is also more comfortable for your skin, and this way it will charge without taking it off.
When I wear my mobi on my thigh, I can put the charger on my leg through clothes and it works pretty well. But you have to hold it there.
