A little news about transplanting pig islets into humans. looking to do clinical trials in 2011/2012 http://bit.ly/eZlyJJ

Thanks Tim! What about the immune attack on the pig islets? Wouldn’t we still have to take immunosuppressants? I watched Jason’s video and it is so moving. The thought of being cured and free from insulin injections is incredible. My heart sank at the last screen shot of the video where he shows “my new meds” and it’s the ramekin of anti-rejection medications.
I guess it becomes anti-rejection meds vs. insulin and choosing which is worse… That’s why I like the sheets so much - it gets rid of the need for the new meds and to me… that is what I want.
Hi Rachel, I agree, as I understand it you would. Right now I’m on a pump, and I love it. I’m open to learning all I can about any option out there, but I definitely want to know more before I make a major change which will have lasting implications.
Anti-rejection meds concern me. Maybe it’s the devil I know vs. the devil I don’t thing. My nephew is awaiting a lung transplant because he has cystic fibrosis. Was frightening reading what he has to take.
It would add new meaning to my wife calling me a pig.
