@Dee_Meloche, there are a few long term T1D’s who have lived more than 80 years since their diagnosis. Two people in the US have 85 year medals.
That is great! I hope I do well in my old age!
Type 1 for 66 years since 1955. Been on pump for about 20 years. Started on new pump and cgm In November. Still learning and adjusting but guess you are never too old to learn new tricks! I have few complications. Eyes are still good, have all my limbs, do have some kidney disease. I also have COPD, pulmonary hypertension, lymphedema in both legs. I live in assisted living facility due to having too many low blood sugars and my fireman son finding me on the floor too often. Idk have a problem with th high carb meals here. I really have to pick and choosing what I eat, supplementing from my on room stash. All in all my life is good and I’m thankful for every day.
@Grandmamamo , I hope you will be safe at the assisted living facility for many years. Thanks for your post.
Before I had a cgm I had about 3 low blood sugars where somone has found me. I was lucky as one day my dad stopped over at my house out of the blue and found me. I feel very fortunate.
@Dee_Meloche, I hope you are not living alone now. Are things much better now?
I I failed to say that my husband was at work. I have been married for 33 years.
