I was refused last week from UHC. I was getting looking to change to the Omnipod from the Animas pump I have. The cost of the supplies would be a bit cheaper over all. I got all the paperwork done. And Edgepark called saying I as declined. UHC said the cost of the pump supplies was too expensive. And then Edgepark said that UHC was going to cover Medtronic in July. So did they decline because of the cost of Omnipod supplies or because of the move to Medtronic…? Either way I’m very upset. I’m ready to change my job just to get away from UHC. I’ve not been happy with them at all.
I haven’t tried ordering any Omnipod supplies lately - switched mid-year to the Animas Vibe from the 'Pod, because I was uncomfortable with pods attached - but at that time they covered it. Then again, that was before the UHC-Medtronic deal… I’m worried about the July 1 formulary, as last year they denied ALL my prescriptions - even the insulin - and I had to fight for each item. I’ve already warned my boss about the potential problems, but he wants to wait and see before make changes.
Bump. My company is switching to UHC in January. Very upset to say the least. Has anyone been able to get their Omnipod covered under UHC?
