We surrender!

Great news. Hope this keeps up!

I try not to think about puberty. I hope he is a really late bloomer! I know it’s coming and I can’t stop it but since he’s only 10 I hope I have several years left. My poor heart can only take so much stress! I’m going to be happy with his good numbers for now.

It's possible that it's an issue with the pump, but since it's your son I would tend to think that's it's the infusion set. I also use the one you insert at an angle because I am a fairly lean person. It works very well for me, but it does require some precision with inserting. Could also be the site you are choosing for insert. Where are you inserting the infusion set?

Please don't give up! Pumping makes my life so much better! I would hate to have to go back on shots.

One other thing I just thought of! I know from personal experience that it is possible, although unlikely, to get a bad vial of insulin. I don't know if you were using the same vial during that entire time, but if you were, it is entirely possible that the insulin was somehow damaged and less effective than it should be.

Alycat we use his legs, abdomen and buttocks. We rotated the site every 72 hours and used more than 1 vial of insulin. When we switched back to MDI it was the same vial as we had used with the pump and it worked fine. He's been using the Inset 30 since Saturday and his numbers have been running a little low. So I'm assuming the Cleo is not right for his body. The numbers we are seeing now are definitely more in line with what I had expected with the pump. It was very frustrating not being warned this was a possibility and it took 6 weeks of misery to get a new set. I was being told to increase his dose and increase it more and things were not getting better. Now his doses are back down and numbers are great! He's happy to have his pump back and I'm happy to see good numbers. Being new to the pump I wish were had been given more info but what's done is done and now I know a lot more so if we ever have problems again I am more able to figure things out myself. :)

I just read your later comment about the new infusion sets! Glad they are working! Yeah, I have never even used the straight infusion sets because my doctor suggested I was too lean for them. I have always been using the angled ones, and they work great for me. No kinks, few occlusions.
