Weight Lifting Goals?

ok new update: week 24

Bench: 160…still
Squat: 275!!! (up 35 pounds!)
Hangclean: 170

bodyweight back down to 142

Take the advice above and read starting strength. Prob one of the best books for strength training out there.

Oh, and doing less than 8 reps does not “lead to injury” I would like to see proof to back that up. Crappy form with heavy weights lead to injury. I follow the program above and have hit a 415 deadlift for 3 reps, squat 315 for 3sets of 5, etc without any issues and I consider myself pretty weak. I know a lot of pretty decent power lifters and awesome trainers and there isnt any issues with injuries.

This is a great book and program! Good post.

My problem is that I can’t follow a program other than the one the school gives. If I go off and do my own thing, they could fail me. I kinda want to keep my GPA so that would be a bad thing. I bet it is a wonderful program, but I wouldn’t have a chance to actually do it.

Random bragging:

The coach decided to try deadlifts instead of squat for a change. I haven’t done deadlift in forever, but I managed to get 315 lbs! I feel kinda good about that.

alrighty. after this there will only be one more update.

Bench: 175
Squat: 290
Hangclean: 190

BW 146

OK, my school year is pretty much done and I have my FINAL maxes (this thread can die after this post)

Bench: 190
Squat: 300
Hangclean: 225!!! (I surprised everyone in the gym when i got this)

Bodyweight: back down to 144

thanks for the support guys!

Well, this thread shouldn’t die before a final round of hearty congratulations on your efforts this school year. Awesome work!!

Hope you decide to stick with it. You’ll never feel quite the same if your not banging iron around in a hot gym in the middle of August.

Best of luck!!
