do you rely on glucose tablets? or sugar cubes? or has the food that you bolused for already hit your blood stream?
Glucose tabs. Mostly because I can just let those sit in my mouth and they dissolve and, in theory, can be absorbed to some extent without actually swallowing. I’ve found that when I have really intense bouts of vomiting (migraines, usually) juice/straight sugar doesn’t work well because I throw it up before it has time to absorb sufficiently. That being said, if all you have is sugar, go for it. I once went through a 6 pack of regular coke that my roommate had because it was the only thing I had. Since then I order glucose tabs in bulk and haven’t had the same problem.
You need to keep checking your bg to figure out if you will need glucose or not. Did you vomit the entire meal, some of it, are you still sick? Know way to know without more info. Checking is always a good idea when sick so do it often and then use whatever you can tolerate to get bg in range.
This hasn’t happened to me. If dex showed me dropping and I felt wonky and finger stick was lower I would pop a glucose tab and monitor things. Better to go a bit high than have a huge crash later when the insulin really kicks in.
The first thing I would do is throw the cook overboard.
After 41 years my answer is yes. I have done each of these things with different results. Generally speaking I let it go and check frequently. It is not the best way, or the worst, if I go low i like gatorade (A little bit). I take the issue seriously but if I am ill, chances are pretty good my blood sugar is escalating regardless so the small increase in insulin is rarely enough to cause me to go low.
Best of luck:
