I just started Lantus about 6 weeks ago. Recently I briefly saw something that had a diagram of the human body and talked about the fact that there are preferred injection sites based on the type of insulin - slow, medium or fast-acting.
Anyone know about this or have any experience with it?
I don’t believe it really matters, as long as you inject into fatty tissue.
I’ve been told that stomach sites work the fastest, but haven’t found that to be true. I used to take correction injections in my stomach thinking it would work more quickly, but it didn’t. I use my stomach, butt (wherever I can reach!) & thighs. I’ve never used my arms because that’s too difficult.
Is there a trick to avoiding bruises? Maybe it’s just because I’m so fair and have thin skin. I’m very careful, but I bruise a lot.
Also, I haven’t gained any weight - but haven’t lost any either (which is frustrating considering my diet & exercise). Is it my imagination that my belly (where I’ve been injecting) is more…ummm…jiggly?? Guess I’m gonna have to step up the exercise.
I don’t ever get bruises, but I’m not a delicate skin type. I use the pinch-up-the-skin method. How do you inject? You might need thinner or shorter needles. I’ve got itty needles, but I’m too thin.
Don’t think Lantus will give you a jiggly belly. But, try rotating to different areas.
