World Diabetes Day Postcard Exchange

I LOVE this time of year!! Holidays are coming, my birthday is coming, Big Blue Test is coming, World Diabetes Day is coming... and so is the World Diabetes Day Postcard Exchange! Do you guys know about this? It's an initiative by Lee Ann Thill, who is a member of TuDiabetes and has her own blog called The Butter Compartment, and one of the things I love most about it is that it's OFFLINE. Yes, friends, this is something you do off the computer. Crazy.

WDDPE is an initiative to connect people affected by diabetes from around the world with each other during the month of November in celebration of World Diabetes Day and Diabetes Awareness Month. Participants in the Postcard Exchange send and receive handmade postcards with assigned Postcard Buddies. They create postcards using the blue circle, the international symbol of diabetes, in their design. The Postcard Exchange was created to promote healing through Creativity, Connection, and Activism.

So basically what happens is you send in your mailing address and Lee Ann will send you the address of someone else to make and send a postcard to for World Diabetes Day and National Diabetes Awareness Month (in several countries. Not all). You get to be creative and artsy if you want, and you get to enjoy the creativity of a fellow PWD from somewhere else in the world. Very cool.

If you're interested in participating check out the World Diabetes Day Postcard Exchange website to learn how.

Thanks for sharing the project, Emily! I think we're going to have a great exchange this year, and I'm excited to some familiar names as well as some new ones. If anyone has questions about the project, please let me know.

You guys have got me so excited about this! I signed up for the 1st time this year, and can't wait to make the postcards as an art project with my daughter (who is 2.5) as well as with some girl friends who just happened to have diabetes! I need more offline time, to be sure, but to have that time, on top of doing something fun and artsy to connect with other D-friends across the world? A-mazing!

Ohhhh...yes yes yes!! I'm in!!

Hello, just asking when i am supposed to receive the adresses i can send this cards to? Eager to start

Me, too! Just finished making my cards last night, so working on getting them addresses and sent out today and tomorrow. Yay!
