thanks! would you recommend it to an 11 year old? My 11 year old is on omnipod, and I'd love to have to help her with basals, and her biggest problem right now is lows during dance class, she dances 12 to 14 hours a week, and lows during class are keeping her from being her best...
wow, you just restart after the first week and get a second week, and perhaps a third??
HOW much is one of those things. I was wondering if we could set up an arrangement whereby those of us who have 2 many of them can send it to those in need of them. Just want to know if it is costly and worth the trouble
Yup - off label of course. I re-start until the numbers are off - I got 16 days out of my last sensor. Currently on day 7 of this one and restarted this morning.
I usually get 10-14 days before off readings and ???. Once I get a bunch of ???, I don't usually bother trying to restart it again.
I am normally in the 20-25 day range. I have to change when I get a lot of ??? and wacky readings. Sensor always works better for me in week 2 and 3.
Love my Dex. If I ever have to go for a little while without it, I feel completely blind.
20 days - wow. I wish. Great Good luck.
Apparently - according to attached article on new proposed sensor with one year usage; the issue is that unless titanium; present minimed/dexcom sensors are treated by body as invaders, and body sets about to wall off/occlude the sensor. In my case, unless I use the skin prep and other stuff, my body wacks off the adhesive of the sensor sitting on my skin real fast and the sensor starts to roll off.
Also this new sensor would have a absolute addition oxygen sensor to make the sensor accurste and compensate out the wandering relative nature of these sensors that require regular calibration entries to keep on track.
4139-glucose_implant_sensor_glysyn.doc (117 KB)Same here. The one I just changed out was pretty much smack on till day 22!
What kind of tape do you use? My main problem is they don't stick longer than about 3-5 days and start to work themselves out. I went to the local pharmacy, but all they could recommend is Johnson & Johnson First Aid tape. I got what I paid for . . . NOT MUCH! Thanks in advance for any tape information you can provide.
I usually get 3 weeks or so as well. I use Opsite Flexifix, swear by the stuff. It comes in a roll. I cut a strip for each side of the sensor/transmitter tape. It hasn't ever given out on me, and is virtually invisible - super thin.
Great. Thanks so much. Do you get this at a local pharmacy or order it online?
On line - shop around for the best price. It seems expensive but I've had the same roll for over a year.
