1. Color Pics/Graphics :
So stimulating, fresh, and with wonderful colorful pics (so many Forums are just downright dull).
2. Diversity of participants:
TuD members can just about cover anything.
3. Level Headed Moderators on TuD:
I’ve seen some pretty predatory, egotistical, tyranical & over-zealous moderators in some ‘chat’ rooms and health forums.
Good on you TuD and members !
And Thanks!
Hi Michael,
I like your 1 and 2 and 3 also.
My other favorite thing is that the people on this site seem so real. You can be serious, neurotic or joke around with them and it is fine. People are pretty laid back and crazy here and they are easy to talk to you can count on them for support - even stuff that isn’t really D related.
I went to another site or two before this and it felt so dull and I didn’t feel part of it at all. There also only seemed to be certain types of people there. If you weren’t that type of person, you got shunned a bit. Diversity is great here and I love it. It is the only D forum I go to now.
Agree! TuD is a wonderfully unique place for all the reasons you listed.
Manny & the admin team have created & nurtured an amazing supportive, informative & respectful environment for us.
I Agree with both you and Kimberly here!
I agree with all the other comments. Especially, I like that posters here, including me, are not treated like interlopers. Another place I started with is like that and they have the same few posters over and over. New people don’t seem to stay active for long. They do provide good info but some of it is snarky and offputting. Thanks for the warm welcome here. And even to those of us who are not compulsive about food and BGs!
I agree with all of the above. When I was struggling to figure out my Type a year ago March I joined this and another forum, and was astonished at how different they were! The other forum has some very knowledgeable people and I’ve got a lot of good information from there, but there is definitely a specific culture and sometimes people are put down who don’t follow that culture. My first couple posts I was asking questions completely unrelated to carb intake and was jumped on and told my questions were irrelevant until I went low carb! On here, on the other hand, there is a strong culture of " YMMV" and though we do get opinionated at times, we always go back to that attitude of acceptance of all views. Bottom line is there is a real warmth and sense of community here. I’m also active in a forum that is more of a " gateway" - mostly newly diagnosed or people wondering if they are diabetic. I post to that forum as a way of " giving back". Oddly enough the administrators there don’t allow you to post other websites on their forum (as if they are the competition!) so I frequently send private messages sometimes with that other " information driven" forum, but always with TuDiabetes!

I love the help!

I love that nothing is off limits here, well, for the most part…we can ask and talk about anything

Ideas, information and such are generally right on…
We are very, very lucky to have a site like this one…I recommend it to anyone I meet who is a diabetic, a non-diabetic, or has a person who is a diabetic close to them…education is a wonderful thing.
