A cure?

Ok anybody tried bitter melon? It supposedly has insulin-like properties...anybody know anything about long-term use? So far it works for hubby; 2 hour postpradials reasonable n am fasting was 98. Is this what your doctor doesnt want you to know? And where can you get the BCG vAccine in the US? Another one your doctor doesent want you to know...Bunny

Unfortunately, Bunny, there is no cure for Type 1 diabetes, and no vaccine. There are, however, lots of people who would be happy to take our money from us for the latest herb or fruit said to "cure diabetes". There is lots of valid research going on in lots of promising directions that are worth following and supporting. But if something seems to help, and doesn't cost a lot, hey what have you got to lose! Just don't stop using insulin for a "natural supplement". The only natural supplement for the insulin we inject is the insulin some of us still make (aka honeymoon)

I agree with Zoe, she has put this so well. Don't waste your money on bitter melon, spent instead on whole, fresh foods and test, test, test to see how your body reacts of different foods.

Studies have shown that there need to be more studies. The potential for bitter melon is in the treatment of Type 2. The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center link is here.
