A Family's Struggle

Hello Patty:

How do things stand with your son?

I would like to provide a link to something that I wrote a while ago, and have worked on for many, many years. Perhaps if you thought it was helpful, you could print it for him, the first one was my best:

http://www.dlife.com/diabetes-forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11258&a…

There are many very senior diabetics, women, men here who understand exactly where he is at, I believe we all have been there at some point. Every diabetic I know would love to ignore and pretend it is gone. Sounds like a “diabetic vacation” is in order for the young man. He needs someone to take the burden from him, for a weekend, 72 hours. Give him help for a few days… as if he was very small boy once again, except a diabetic little boy . You, your husband somebody does every single diabetic thing for him and will give him no say in the matter, once you offered it (as a special gift) and he accepts this gift.

If you were his “partner” there are other more persuasive methods quite available. As his mother, you still have many options… As a group of some pretty serious diabetic experience, I’ll bet we can get to him, if someone has not already? So where do things stand mom?

Stuart

maybe show him this site…
actually he sounds just like me, i’m currenly not taking any medicine… no dka though… whatever i say won’t make sense but if you have any questions you can email me. I don’t condone not taking care of oneself, it’s complicated.

Domo, are you not taking insulin? Worried about your statement about not taking any medicine. Hope you’re ok, baby.

This discussion is almost two years old. I hope Patty found help for her son.
