Accepted! - On my way to become a CDE

I am just so excited to be on my new path leading me to become a diabetes educator. I was just accepted into the accelerated BSN program at Mount St Mary's and will be an RN hopefully by the end of next year.

After being Type 1 for almost 27 years, and gaining knowledge and I am ready to share inspiration and guide those who are like me to making the most of their lives.

Just had to share!

good job!

Congrats!!! I am trying to get money for school for a new career and Nursing is what I want to do. At 54 starting school this will be different!!! Such good news!!!

Congratulations!

Yeah for you. Awesome!

Congrats! that is great!

What is the CDE program like? I am wanting to switch careers too and I thought about this. Although if it is a nursing thing I have a feeling it isn’t for me because I can’t pass chemistry to save my life!

Is it more for nurses or teachers?

Awesome!! Congratulations!!!

That is absolutely wonderful a diabetic that will dispense diabetic advice. It is like a cowboy who has actually ridden a horse.

YEA!!! We can use more CDE’s that understand us from the inside out…rather than only by what they read in a book. YIPEE
For you!!!

Congrats !

Congratulations! I would love to become a CDE but I don’t want to go to nursing school. Unfortunately (I believe) you need some type of medical degree for the CDE program. I wonder if there’s a lay counselor type program?

+1
My first endo was a diabetic. Don’t need to explains that he didn’t need to search too long for my questions !

There are basically 5 paths to become a CDE, and you need to work for 2 years in that discipline before moving on to the specialty. It won’t happen overnight, but I’m excited to start the journey. Thanks for everyone’s support and kind words.

Congratulations. Thank you for wanting to teach, inspire and care for us.
