CORRECTION ON TEST STRIPS - INSULET IS NOW RECOMMENDING WE DO NOT USE THE NEW STRIPS

I got a follow up call tonight from Insulet Customer Support and they gave me new instructions. They are recommending that we do NOT use the new FreeStyle strips and that they do NEED FDA approval. Please verify this on your own.
I have asked Insulet to put a notice on their website.

Insulet and Abbott have completely botched this up and neither one seems to have a handle on it. What is worse is that neither of them seem to be working with the insurance companies–who are actually distributing the new strips. I am sorry that I have added to the problem by repeating thier misinformation.

I got out my PDM and my Flash meter. Then I opened a new bottle of the new Freestyle strips. However I did forget to change the code number on both machines from 13 to 16.

Anyway I ran a test on each meter with the new strips and I got a 180 on my PDM and a 183 on my Flash meter. I did both tests from one finger stick. I then did the same thing with the old test strips. The PDM had a reading of 187 and the Flash had a reading of 217 but I re-did the test and got a 189. I dont know…call me crazy but the new strips seemed to work fine in my opinion.

I’m going to have to go back and find the other posts but the new strips seem just fine to me.
