American Diabetes Association 73rd Annual Scientific Sessions

It's that time of year, folks! The American Diabetes Association 73rd Annual Scientific Sessions will take place June 21-25 in Chicago, IL. If you're not familiar with this event, I highly recommend taking a look at the link. It's HUGE.

Below I am compiling a (non-exhaustive) list of articles and press releases by organizations that are involved in the event. It's a wide range of topics, so look through carefully to see what might interest you!

Does it violate the "terms of service" to post pics of strikingly handsome guys?

I've had a really nice time at the events I've gotten to. I blew off the conference but went to a couple of "after hours" parties and it was great to meet a bunch of folks IRL and some people I'd never heard of before who are all involved in one way or another. There's another event tonight but I'm on the fence due to "armpitpalooza"

I believe our TOS allow for the posting of pictures of strikingly handsome guys ;)

The meetups were interesting. I didn't actually attend the conference because, well, I'm a slacker and wasn't sure what all would be going on and whether or not it would be worth it for a non-science person to go to a "science" conference. I went to two meetups and had very interesting times at both of them. It was great to meet "virtual" people IRL and be mired in some D-soup. I like kibbitzing a lot and some folks I met that I've known for years and I enjoyed it.

The Tu event was also interesting although there seemed to be some "action" going on that was a bit above my head. I think people should wear color-coded suits so we "civilians" could tell if they were medical, pharmaceutical or "simply" D-people. Manny's speech about DHF was very touching and reinforced the plight of people in places like Haiti, where 300K PWD are served by 4 healthcare providers. WTF. I met two of them and they took a pic of my D tattoo which I hope can inspire someone to beat the hell out of diabetes there but the logistical aspects of it seem very daunting. I'm very fortunate they had the meeting here and was bummed to miss the 5K due to armpitpalooza but I've seen how hard the DOC people work at these events and they are extremely professional, dedicated and brilliant and I salute them.

Too awesome to see these 2 handsome PWD together from miles apart :)

I attended a workshop in my beautiful Vancouver this past Saturday , BC area with the CDA . The plan is , that CDA will role out on WDD , November 14, 2013 ;the Diabetes Charter for Canada . 4 workshops were held across Canada with volunteer attendees : Medical Staff living with diabetes ( GP , Nurse ) , government reps , parents of type 1 kids ,mental health employees,a Lawyer ( in our group ) etc. etc. and many like myself , those experienced living with d for many moons .

Ah, quite the opposite - I think it's required in the TOS that if you have such a photo, you MUST post it ;) Love the idea of being mired in D-soup LOL
