Yes, Animas told me that every two days equates to five sets a 90 day period.
I absolutely agree we should all check on things - look at me, I had no clue even how many boxes I was allowed or why it was being held!
That’s crazy, solo! Why do they say they will only ship you 46 instead of 50?
I actually felt like Animas was on my side to tell me how to work with the doctor to get the five boxes. She definitely heard that “sites fail for lots of reasons, it’s just normal”. Then she told me about the wording of “site irritation” or “absorption problems” - neither of which I have.
Personally I’m going to jump right out on a conspiracy theory limb (or is it just reality?) and say that every organization in the U.S. these days is both financially stressed with all that means and over-regulated big time, so the hands of everyday personnel are tied.
That is such a great question Zoe, I wish I knew… Up until 2 days ago I thought it was just me, but still was waiting on an answer from animas on the discrepancy. Until I found Laura S.'s post I thought maybe it was just my bad luck that I couldn’t get the help or supplies to get through or even blamed myself for being a more frequent changer, and even trying to rethread insets if I accidentally pulled them off the inserter. To even figuring out if it was wise to push to 4 days on an inset and just change the cartridge… I really have been questioning everything… Because if it wasn’t for bad luck really with managing this disease I’d really have no luck at all.
I don’t know if I had the degree of problems that some of you are having if I wouldn’t be considering going back to shots either! So far, the only glitches I’ve run into are easily fixed (like the prescription for 2 days vs 3 days thing) and the Animas reps I’ve spoken to have been helpful. But in October I’m switching from a PPO to an HMO to save some of this free-flowing money I don’t really have and I’m sure that will come with a whole new set of problems and a lot bigger bureaucracy to deal with. (There’s a reason that I always have to look up the spelling of that word, despite usually being a very intuitive speller!)
You would think if it was written 2 or 3, they would get clarification instead of giving the least amount. I doubt many people that change their site every 3 days wouldn’t use a couple extra because of problems.
MDI is going good. The only thing I miss about the pump is not having to set my alarm to get up and take Levemir. I hve been tired lately and would like one morning to sleep in.
Have you tried MDI since you learned the pump stuff? I think the stuff they teach for pumps would help with MDI.
I havent been on MDI since they only had Ultralente insulin!
I realize that has surely changed, and I know the pumping calculations would help.
It is mainly the problem that I used to drop and drop, just going out to the store and walking around one time. Now I usually turn down the pump fifty percent for anything like that, and it works.
I’m hoping I can still get my 5. I have NO CLUE what my prescription calls for, but both with MM and now with Animas I’ve always gotten 5 boxes of sets with each re-order so I hope that I can continue to do so, since apparently my prescription indicates I need this much. I need to do this soon, as I go through crazy insurance changes at the end of September anyway and I want my re-order on this current insurance plan
Edit to add: I found my Rx info. Apparently mine was written as ‘3 times weekly’. That’s still only 38.5 sets for 90 days (lol…). Well…hopefully they’ll round up and give me 4 boxes!
Note though, now you have to ask for replacements and wait for them.
My local rep told me, no more rounding up of boxes.
They’ll be sending exactly the amount you need for the way your prescription is written.
Which of course means, just have your doctor change it if you want some spares.
Yes I can confirm that… I received 46 not a box of 50… I am changing to another provider next round of orders. They will send me what I need and I have verified both my prescription and what insurance will pay for… I mean 1 extra set for 90 days that’s crazy… I mean I had one go in and bunch up on me… crazy to think that was the 1 extra I had to ditch so I can’t have any more issues for the rest of the 90 days. But I am hopeful the new delivery company will alleviate any issues I have…

Thanks, They aren’t exactly breaking boxes they are sending 2 packs. so they sent me 3 - 2 packs to make 46… It is definitely stupid… See it was a good thought to cut out any middle men, and do business straight with the company… In fact I wasn’t sure that I had much of an option at the beginning, now I am getting a middle man… LOL…
That is why I always ordered from the company. With my Cozmo I’m pretty sure I did, and with my old Animas pumps and MM pump. I didnt want to use another service but if I must…
