Are there any foods that a diabetic should NEVER eat?

churches or popeyes???

I won’t eat Maple Bars unless I am very hypo :)!

I think it would be foods you cannot predict well. Like for me it would be Pizza. No matter what I do, Pizza makes my control go straight to the theological place of eternal punishment . I try various things; boluses, timings, dosages etc, and NEVER do I get away with the pizza!

So ticked today, went out to fish & chips at an Irish pub and haven’t been below 185 from that time, but started at a 70.

Many boluses later I am back to a reasonable 130, but it’s nutz.

By the way, fried chicken does not affect my readings more than any other food with comparable amounts of carbs. It’s the mashed taters, gravy, tater salad, etc. that you gotta watch out for.

We’re not as far apart on this as it looked at first. You may not see the structure in your eating habits but you’re doing naturally what many other have to think out and do.
My basic is that I divide my plate in fourths . 1/4 the plate is protein,1/4 starch and the other 1/2 for veggies.
you are right ,we need to listen to our internal cues. Cravings are a message from our body ,telling us something.

It’s overrated. :frowning: We firmly believe that if you shoot it you eat it, and my husband was helping a friend control her squirrel population at one point. He brought a few home. We at them. They are nourishing but not what I would choose for my last meal. LOL! It is good in stew-type things though. Traditially Brunswick stew (served with barbecue) is made from squirrel. Now, it is made with equal parts of beef, chicken, and pork though.

I do not enjoy wild (cottontail) rabbit. We raise domestic rabbits, and THAT is fantastic. It’s actually a different species and tastes a lot different. Domestic rabbit doesn’t really “taste like chicken” but can be used the same way. It is a lot more nutritionally dense than chicken, so if you generally eat 4 ounces of chicken you’d only need 3 of rabbit. My favorite way is barbecued on the grill!

You know they’re nothing but tree rats!
