BG extreme rise mid morning

I got up this morning at 108. Had a cup of milk and bolused for 12 carbs. Ride my bike, went to the store, made brownies for my husband’s office…no tasting. At noon I was 220.

My BG rises off and on in the morning, but not consistently. I try to test at 10, five out of ten times I need to correct. Afraid to raise basal, as the other 5 days, all is well.

Thanks for your thoughts.

It could be a combination of up to three factors: dawn phenomenon, the need for a different carb ratio for the morning, and/or the impact of exercise.

Have you done basal checks to make sure you’ve identified and addressed any potential dawn phenomenon?

Yes and yes. I am 64, so the stationary bike is low impact.

I agree and these all pertain to me. I bolus when my “feet hit the floor” (see another thread on that), even with zero morning carb input. I know, it’s frustrating, you have to have different calibrations for different times of day, different conditions, and whatever else life throws at you.
