Reminder! Remember to wash those fingers before testing. If you get an unexplainable high, retest before acting. I tested before my supper bolus and it read 18.9 mmol. Panic, panic, then remembered that I didn't wash my hands. I retested at 7.3. Thankfully I realized that I must have had "contaminated" fingers!!!
hi carol. that happened me also, i did my sugar levels and they read 26.1 i was panicking, then i took my read a min after and it was 7.4. thanks for the useful tip.
One gets a bit relaxed about it sometimes, and it had been 5 yrs. since the last time for me, and we were in a restaurant. I picked up ribs, took a bite, then realized I had not tested and done a bolus for the meal, wow, 17.7 or so, but then because we were travelling to Florida, just accepted the number, and pushed my buttons for the meal. I was in reaction in an hour, terrible night, eating and testing for hours. I did learn to retest. Fortunately, you did not run into trouble. Hopefully, I got the attention of some new insulin pumpers.
